Work from 5 years ago (11/30/2020) at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH
P2PQ was an FFG funded project by Wien Energie GmbH and AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH. It focused on the usage of blockchain in energy communities to allow trading of PV, grid and battery stored energy between customers. I developed the front-end shown to the community customers which was integrated into a larger community dashboard.
The dashboard consisted mainly of an assortment of D3.js graphs visualising blockchain data including stacked bar graphs, a 24 hour clock and a flow diagram.
To allow customers to get better energy deals, a PV prognosis visualised as a 24-hour clock shows the estimated PV production depending on time of day and weather. Green bars indicate a high amount of generated energy.
The consumed energy is shown as an animated graph depicting the different blockchain transactions.
The energy consumed by one household is visualized as multiple graphs. One of these shows the origin of the used energy which can be either PV, Grid, Community (e.g. the battery share of a neighbor) or the own battery share. In reality the physical battery is the same for every participant. The separation is purely virtual to allow trading.
